Sustainability and style were both important to the homeowners for this project. JAG used green building practices from start to finish, from its high-efficiency design and energy recovery ventilation system, which keeps indoor air quality high with minimal energy use. The building is situated perfectly on its lot to make the most of the sun, with south-facing orientation as part of a passive solar design to maximize energy efficiency. In addition to the passive solar design, the home is powered by a 8.91 kW active photovoltaic solar panel and battery system. Green building and energy-efficient credentials for this home are proven by its ENERGY STAR certification and its Net Zero Certification from the Green Built Alliance of North Carolina.
The environmental focus for this project goes beyond energy certifications and usage alone; the home is framed with local timber, reducing its construction carbon footprint. Use of sustainably sourced natural wood not only enhances its green cred, but also contributes to its beauty. The homeowners worked with our in-house designer, Kacia Jurdi, to create an interior that delightfully complements the natural beauty showcased just outside the home’s many large windows. One of our favorite features: the custom-made, one-of-a-kind front wood door featuring a sunburst design. It’s the perfect encapsulation of the subtle, natural beauty that makes this home so incredible.
