Jody Guokas
Founder & Owner, JAG Construction

Jody has always been deeply connected to the natural world. His lifelong passion for nature and the environment has shaped not only his personal values but also the foundation of JAG Construction. From the beginning, Jody envisioned a company that would build homes in harmony with the land—high-performance, sustainable spaces that reflect a deep respect for the planet.
Jody’s journey into green building began at Warren Wilson College, where he learned the value of hard work, craftsmanship, and the satisfaction of seeing a job well done. The college’s unique blend of academics, work, and service instilled in him a hands-on ethic and a commitment to community that continues to guide his leadership today.
When Jody founded JAG Construction, he did so with a tool belt on, working shoulder to shoulder with skilled tradespeople and craftsmen. His early days on the job site helped shape a company culture rooted in collaboration, integrity, and excellence. From the outset, JAG Construction has stood as a leader in Asheville’s Green Building community, learning and embracing practices that prioritize quality, energy efficiency, sustainability, and long-term performance. As the demand for environmentally responsible building grew, Jody realized that to make a broader impact, JAG needed to grow beyond a single founder’s vision. He began building a team that shared his passion and purpose. In recent years, JAG has taken a bold step forward by bringing several dedicated employees on as co-owners of the company—ensuring that its mission, values, and commitment to sustainability are carried forward by a team of invested leaders.
Outside of work, Jody is a devoted husband and father to three sons. Together with his wife, he finds joy in traveling as a family—whether exploring the beauty of the Blue Ridge Mountains, relaxing on the Carolina coast, or venturing abroad to experience new cultures and perspectives. Their shared love of nature and curiosity about the world continues to inspire their personal adventures.
When he’s not building homes or exploring the world with his family, Jody finds his personal outlet on two wheels. A passionate cyclist, he enjoys both mountain biking and road riding.
