This contemporary home is situated just outside downtown Asheville on Beaucatcher Mountain. The adjacent city trails system is one of the largest tracts of public land in the city with trails that lead right to historic McCormick Field. The home was designed by the owner, Jessica Larsen, with C.Jem Design. Jessica and her husband are repeat JAG Construction clients, having hired us to build two personal homes and multiple projects for investment. This project featured the first shipping container pool in Asheville, manufactured by?ModPool. We had to use a crane to lift this pool up and over the house. This house was also our first time using thermally modified wood. All of the decking on this home came from?Bingaman. They take native north American hardwood and through a heat and steam process make the wood extremely durable and rot resistant. It has the durability, look and feel of a tropical hardwood, but is much more sustainable. No chemicals are used in the treatment process, just heat and water.
